UX Observation: AMC Theatres Website
Heuristic Evaluation on https://www.amctheatres.com/
Task: Buying movie tickets
Errors:
10-Help and Documentation
Severity Rating:2
The website does not explain the difference between IMAX and Digital offerings. Though there is a little explanation, all it tells me is that it creates an "intense experience".
7-Aesthetic and Minimalist Design
Severity Rating: 3
When clicking "Movie Info", the page is completely refreshed into a new page containing all the information about the movie. However, it would be better if it opened a new tab, so the user would not have to go back to the previous page and lose the new one in case they wanted to look at both at the same time.
7-Aesthetic and Minimalist Design
Severity Rating: 3
When hovering over one of the tabs on the top bar, the list of options that pop up take up the entire page. I find this to be bothering since I can only get rid of it if I move the mouse all the way to the bottom of my screen.
Effective
1-Visibility of System
Throughout buying the movie ticket, the movie time, location, movie name, and number of seats selected are all shown in the top bar to ensure that the user is aware of all the selections they picked.
9-Recognize, Diagnose, and Recover from Errors
After leaving the site idle for over a few minutes, a tab showed up telling me that my tickets were removed because the allotted time expired, so I was sent back to the home page.
